Our Story

AUNG COMMUNITY BEHAVIORAL HEALTH NETWORK was founded with a singular vision: to provide a compassionate, trauma-informed space for the youth of Utica. We believe that every young person deserves a path to healing and empowerment, regardless of their background or past experiences.

Our journey began as a grassroots effort to address the growing needs of underserved populations. Over the years, we have evolved into a dedicated network of mentorship and case management, ensuring that our services are both accessible and deeply personalized to the unique challenges our community faces.

Today, we stand as a beacon of hope in the Utica area. By combining professional expertise with a heart for service, we empower young people to overcome trauma and build a brighter future for themselves and their families.

Founder of Aung Community Behavioral Health Network

About Me

Why I Started Aung Community Behavioral Health Network

My name is Aung Kyaw, and I come from a family of ten. My family immigrated to the United States in 2008, and like many newcomers, we faced many obstacles — especially when it came to building relationships and finding people we could trust. Coming to a new country with a different language and culture was frightening, and we often struggled to find guidance, resources, and support. Even in those hard times, I found ways to support my family and keep moving forward. My drive to succeed helped me finish high school and earn a Bachelor of Science in Public Health. I then spent four years working with LanguageLine, where I gained deep experience supporting families, providing interpretation services, and helping people access the services they deserved. That experience inspired me to start Aung Community Behavioral Health Network, LLC. Since 2023, I have been working with children and parents as an intern, focusing on mentorship, healing, and family support. Through this work, I discovered how much I love building strong families and helping them navigate life together. My dream is to create safe, stable spaces where families can heal from trauma, learn new skills, and feel truly seen and supported. Along the way, I have learned a great deal about myself — my strengths, my resilience, and my ability to create positive environments and healthy workplaces. Every day, my goal is to use that experience to support youth and families in Utica, help them heal, and guide them toward a hopeful future.

Healing & Empowerment

Why I chose The logo?

I chose the butterfly as a symbol because it represents healing, ambition, and transformation. Just as a butterfly begins as a caterpillar and must overcome challenges to reach its full potential, our clients at Aung Community Behavioral Health Network, LLC are at the start of their own journeys. Unlike the butterfly, they do not have to face these challenges alone. Our staff is dedicated to guiding clients through their transformation, helping them find purpose and direction as they navigate trauma and adversity. We support clients in developing social skills, integrating into the community, and discovering meaning in their lives. Our goal is to help those who seek our services become engaged, valued members of society. We believe making a small or large difference is better than making no difference at all. I have experience supporting children on their healing journeys, and I am proud that seeing me is often the highlight of their week.
